Mommy makeover, mother of two, from Phoenix, AZ. Surgery in Tucson, AZ

Procedure Details

This is a 29 year old mother of two from the Phoenix,Arizona area that had come to Rao Plastic Surgery to learn more about a mommy makeover. She was done having kids and was looking to reclaim her pre-pregnancy body. She had breast fed her children and felt she had lost volume in her breasts after breast feeding. She was interested in getting breast implants to restore volume in her breasts. She was also interested in a tummy tuck. After her pregnancies she had excess skin and despite working out a lot she had not seen any improvement in the contour of her abdomen. During her initial consultation I learned that she was a B cup and wanted to be a full C cup or a small D cup. On exam she had good quality breast tissue and did not have any sagging of her breasts despite breast-feeding. Her abdominal exam revealed loose skin and the rectus diastasis. A rectus diastasis commonly develops during pregnancy. As the uterus gets larger the body has to accommodate an as result the rectus muscles get pushed laterally which creates more space for the uterus. This results in weakness of her abdominal wall and gives her abdomen a fuller appearance. I told her that she was a good candidate for a mommy makeover. I explained a mommy makeover is a catch-all term for surgery designed to restore a woman’s pre-pregnancy physique. For her, I recommended a breast augmentation and a tummy tuck with circumferential liposuction.

Mommy makeover

I explained that she did not have any sagging of her breasts and as a result would not need a breast lift.  She did have some breast asymmetry, which I explained is common and then I would recommend using different sized implants to try and balance her breast size.  Her surgery was performed at an outpatient surgery center in Tucson, AZ.  I started her surgery by liposuctioning her back and flanks to provide better definition to her waist.  After that, I turned my attention to the breast augmentation. I used implant sizers to help guide which implant size for each breast that would help improve her symmetry.  Her implants were placed behind the muscle and I used a 385 cc smooth round and Natrelle Inspira implant on the left side and a 345 cc smooth round Natrelle Inspira Implant on the right side.  Her implants were placed using Keller funnel. Once her breast augmentation was completed I turned my attention to the tummy tuck. I performed liposuction of her abdomen and then tightened her rectus muscles. After her muscles were tightened I excised her excess skin.   Prior to closure of her abdominal incision I injected Exparel, a long acting local anesthetic, that provided her good pain relief for the first 72 hours.  She was sent home after a short time in the recovery. She stayed in Tucson, AZ overnight after surgery. She was seen in the office the following day. After her first postoperative visit she returned home to Phoenix and returned periodically to Tucson, AZ for follow up appointments. Her recovery was uneventful. She is now three months out from her surgery and is overjoyed with her results.
