This is a 40 year old woman from Tucson, Arizona and mother of eight children had sought a consultation with Rao Plastic Surgery to discuss improving the contour of her abdomen. She was done having children and despite diet and exercising she had been unable to make improvements on the appearance of her abdomen. During her physical exam she had redundant abdominal skin as well as a significant rectus diastsis. Rectus diastasis is separation of the rectus muscle that provides support for the abdominal wall. However, during pregnancies as the uterus gets larger it pushes the muscles to the side to accommodate the growth of the baby. After eight pregnancies her abdominal muscles have been significantly separated. I felt she was a good candidate for a tummy tuck with liposuction. She underwent a tummy tuck with circumferential liposuction. She tolerated her surgery well.
She is three months out and loves that she has her pre-baby body back.
