Breast Reduction, Active Lifestyle in Tucson, AZ*

This is a 55-year-old woman living in Tucson, AZ that had come to Rao Plastic Surgery to discuss a breast reduction. She was an F cup and had been experiencing back, neck, and shoulder pain as the result of the weight of her breasts. She also would frequently get rashes in the folds of her breasts and would also have bra strap grooving from the weight of her breast in her shoulders from her bra straps. Her mammograms had been normal and she denied a family history of breast problems.  During her consultation I learned that she was looking to be maybe a C or D cup bra size. Her exam did not reveal any masses; she did have ptosis (sagging) of her breast in addition to having large breasts. I felt that she would benefit from a breast reduction. I explained that a breast reduction would reduce the weight of her breasts and improve the symptoms that she is experiencing. I also explained that included with a breast reduction is a “breast lift” which would improve the ptosis of her breasts. In a breast reduction we raise the position of the nipple areola complex so it is centered over the breast. She underwent her breast reduction at an outpatient surgery facility in Tucson, AZ. I used a Weiss pattern incision for her breast reduction. She tolerated surgery well and was discharged home that day. Her postoperative recovery went smoothly. She is now three months out and she is no longer experiencing any of the symptoms she had prior to surgery, such as back pain and rashes. She loves her results from her reduction.
