Remove/Replace Breast Implants, Breast augmentation Revision in Tucson, AZ
This is a 37 year-old woman living in Tucson, AZ that came to Rao Plastic Surgery for a consultation to discuss a revision breast augmentation. She had a breast augmentation performed in Asia through an areolar incision. She did not have any problems during her recovery, but she was never completely happy with the size of her breasts after her implants. In the country that she had her implants done she did not have very much input into the size that was chosen. During her consultation her exam did not reveal any masses and she did not have evidence of capsular contracture. She did have an incision through the center of areola, which is not a commonly utilized incision. The incision that is most frequently utilized in a breast augmentation that incorporates the nipple areola complex is an incision along the inferior aspect of the areola. One of the drawbacks of a periareolar incision is that you are limited in the size of a silicone implant that you are able to place through that incision and that maybe why they placed a smaller implant than she would have liked. Using our sizing system on top of her current implants she decided that she liked the appearance of a 360 cc implant. I explained that I would recommend using an incision in her inframammary fold. I explained that the inframammary incision has the lowest incidence of capsular contracture and there is not a limitation on the size of the implant that we are able to place through the incision. Her surgery was performed at an outpatient surgery center in Tucson, AZ. I removed her original implants and then placed a 360 cc smooth round medium profile Natrelle Inspira implant using a Keller funnel. She was discharged home after surgery and had an uncomplicated recovery. She is now three months out and feels that this is the look she was hoping to have after her first surgery.
