Stubborn abdominal fat is something even the fittest of individuals often struggle with. It seems that regardless of how much one works out there are pockets of abdominal fat that can be very difficult to resolve. The number of fat cells in our body is determined at adolescence. Coolsculpting utilizes cryolipolysis in which fat cells in the treatment area undergo freezing to minus ten degrees Fahrenheit, starting a natural cascade leading to death of the fat cells. Once these fat cells die they do not return.
There are several different Coolsculpting applicators, and the “Cool Advantage” and the “Cool Advantage Plus” are the two used most commonly used applicators used on the abdomen. The Cool Advantage takes about 35 minutes per treatment area while the Cool Advantage Plus, which treats a larger surface area, takes forty five minutes. The decision on which applicator to use depends on the size and contour of the area to be treated.
After each treatment performed there is a two minute manual massage. The manual massage has been shown to enhance fat cell destruction. We have seen the best results when patients have received two treatments on a specific area. For each treatment 20-25% of the fat cells in the area treated will be destroyed. After the treatment, there is no special diet to adhere to enhance the results. Unlike surgery, there are no restrictions after the treatment so you can get rid of stubborn abdominal fat without any downtime.
